If, when you hear “tuberose,” you think: “France,” this is an apt association. In addition to growing tuberose in France and sourcing pomades, concretes and absolutes, tuberose has played quite a role in the history of French perfumery.

Moreover, Tuberose is a species belonging to the agave family. The name refers not to a single plant, but to a genus that includes as many as 13 species. One of the most popular is the fragrant tuberose. Although the largest Tuberose plantations are in the United States and Africa, Tuberose has also been found in Europe since the 16th.

It produces a rosette of long leaves, from which grows an inflorescence shoot that is approx. 1 m, covered with white, sweet-smelling flowers. The name tuberose comes from the Latin term for tuber. It is prized for its beautiful, numerous and showy flowers. Their smell is very distinctive: sweet and citrusy.

USAGE:

• for massage: combine 5 – 10 drops of essence with 10 ml of base oil such as argan, raspberry seed or jojoba and enjoy your own massage oil
• for bathing: 5 – 7 drops of essence add to a bathtub with water, optimal bath time is 15 minutes
• aromatherapy: add 5 to 8 drops of oil to a diffuser
• inhalation: add a few drops of oil to hot water, cover your head with a towel and inhale the rising steam
